About Me
Welcome to Hammered & Nailed!
My name is Pete, and I want to share my engineering background and passion for putting my hands to work with you. No matter what your experience, I hope to expand your view of products, processes and inspire you to pick up a tool and put your hands to work.
I am a mechanical design engineer, maker and tinkerer with more than a decade of new product development experience of automotive, industrial and consumer products. I excel at taking ideas from a napkin sketch to a finished product. Developing 3D CAD models and drawings ready for manufacture and functional prototyping.
Crafting Ideas into Reality - Columbus Maker with an Engineering Twist
My passion for creating started as a child, but solidified in High School - I had an excellent opportunity to take classes in woodshop, welding, and CAD - all while prepping for an engineering degree. I graduated from Michigan State University as a Mechanical Engineer in 2006; where I was active with the SAE Baja team, building a single-seat off-road racecar. I've continued my involvement with the organization since then, volunteering as a judge and technical inspector. Afterward, I moved to Columbus, Ohio to work as a design engineer for Honda R&D.

In 2012 I met my beautiful wife, we married in 2015 while buying our first house, an 1885 Victorian Italianate in Columbus, Ohio. Since then, we've moved to and from Cleveland and landed back in Columbus with our three cats and two horses. I opened my Etsy shop in 2014, selling handmade woodworking and art pieces; in 2018 I started my YouTube channel to share my experience in engineering, CAD modeling, 3D printing, and woodworking.

I hope you enjoy tagging along on this journey!
